The idea and heart of UPLIFT is to inspire bereaved parents to open their hearts to beauty, healing and peace for themselves this holiday season. We are not expecting to perform miracles here. We won’t sit here and write about why you feel sad, isolated, lonely or flat this season. You know the reason, we know the reason. What we do hope is that we can open your hearts to the idea that grief and healing, joy and sorrow can co-exist. That you can create meaning and beauty from your hurt and that you have the power to do so.
What you are not going to find at this project are articles written for or directed to your family members and friends so that they could better help you. While we value those kind of articles, they are everywhere on the internet, so there is no real point in reinventing the wheel but more than that, we understand that we are responsible for our own grief journeys. What we hope to do here is give people ideas, tools, new ways and different perspectives on how to cope when our loved ones, work colleagues etc do not understand or say the wrong thing. We will do this by sharing our own experiences and journeys.

Meet The UPLIFT Contributors.
It is with a heart full of gratitude that I introduce you all to these beautiful souls who will be sharing their light for you all throughout this season. I want it to be known that when I reached out to all these people and asked for their help, all I could offer them in return is my sincere thanks and they all said yes in the name of giving back to this community. So please be sure to thank them for their time and love.
Introducing in no particular order…

Her book, You Are the Mother of All Mothers: A Message of Hope for the Grieving Heart has comforted the hearts of over 7,000 grieving moms around the world. You can often find her in her kitchen cracking open coconuts, or whipping up new allergen free food for her kids. She made these yesterday, and they really are the best grain free, gluten free, dairy free chocolate chip cookies ever. Even if you can eat the good stuff. Try them. You won’t be disappointed!
IN HER OWN WORDS, A WISH FOR YOU
My wish is that you have someone you can speak your truth to– both the light and the dark. Someone who can hold the space for the joy, the grief, the love, and the loss with you in a way that feels healing and comforting to your heart, even if that someone is you. My prayer for you this holiday season is that you can allow moments of joy– whatever they may be, however small or large– alongside your grief. My wish is that above all you know you aren’t alone. That you know, without a shadow of a doubt, we are here– thousands of us who get it– dear ones who will crawl in the ditch with you, sit with you, listen to you, be with you– hand in hand, heart to heart.
