WELCOME TO THE MOTHER HEARTS PROJECT FOR 2017
To honour this International Bereaved Mother’s Day, we are creating a special short film titled “We Carry Them In Our Hearts”. The film will be shown on youtube and facebook. The film we create is intended to help give our greater society a glimpse into the everyday life of a bereaved mother. We are inviting bereaved mothers from around the globe to submit some film or a photograph of themselves. The theme “We Carry Them In Our Hearts” is inspired by the e.e. cummings poem I Carry Your Heart With Me. We want to show as many different emotions and stages of grief as possible throughout this film and we will thread them all together with a certain action performed by each mother. The action is simply each mother placing her hands over the space where she holds her child, her heart. That place where we carry all of the hurt, the fear, the worry, the yearning, the love, the healing and the hope.
For the film to be seen by as many people as possible, it needs to be short so that people don’t feel like they will have to create time to watch it later. So we are going to try to keep this film to only 2-3 minutes long. We believe we can make it deeply moving and profound. Let us make some beautiful awareness with this short film so that we can continue breaking down the walls of silence when it comes to the death of babies and children of any age or gestation.
PHOTOGRAPH and VIDEO SUBMISSION IDEAS
HANDS OVER HEARTS – This is the action we need everyone to perform. Only photographs and film of you placing your hands over your hearts will be included in the film. You can submit a photograph or film, or if you are super inspired, submit both. Before you take your photograph or film of you placing your hands over your heart, have a think about where you are in your journey of grief. What part do you want to share? What emotion will you show? Pick your setting carefully. Remember, we want to show society a glimpse into the EVERYDAY life of a bereaved mother. Maybe you will choose your child’s bedroom or their grave site, or maybe a beautiful place that reminds you of them. Maybe that place is in a public area, at your work, on a bus, in the grocery store, at your letter box, in your kitchen, laundry, bathroom – the places are endless. Remember, we carry them everywhere and that is what we want to show the world that these babies and children are forever a part of us and our daily lives. We are looking for a wide range of emotive shots in a variety of different places and spaces. So do not stress if you cannot find a beautiful scenic place to take your photograph or film. We want to share your real everyday life. If tears come to the surface, don’t be afraid to share them. If a smile comes to your face, don’t be afraid to share love that you have for your child.
BOTH PHOTOGRAPH AND FILM SUBMISSIONS MUST BE SHOT IN LANDSCAPE (Thank you, Shontelle!)
We need your photograph to be as high resolution as possible. It must be at least 1MB. Please read the terms and conditions of this process and how to submit your photograph below. For a video submission, send us in no more than 20 seconds of film of yourself placing your hands over your heart. You could ask a friend or family member to film this for you or you could set your camera/phone up on a tripod.
Please allow at least 3 secs of film before you place your hands over your heart. You can use your phone to capture the film. Do not worry about sounds in the back ground as we will be muting all the videos.
PHOTOGRAPH AND VIDEO SUBMISSION DUE DATE
Friday April 28th 2017. Submission for the film are now closed.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SUBMITTING A PHOTOGRAPH OR FILM
If you choose to submit a piece of film or photograph or even both, you are giving CarlyMarie Project Heal permission to use and possibly edit (usually just cropping or editing colour) your submission. Your submission may be chosen to be featured in the short film that will be shown on the world-wide internet for the public to view. Only submit your piece if you are 100% certain that you are comfortable sharing this on a public forum. Once it is on the internet, it is there forever.
Please note that unfortunately we will not be able to include everyone’s submissions due to the fact that the film will only go for 2 -3 minutes. With this reality we still want this to be a world-wide collaboration and will include as many photographs as possible. We ask that you share your Mother Heart pics on your favourite social media websites in the lead up to International Bereaved Mothers Day and on the day itself – Sunday May 7th 2017.
Beautiful mothers, I see your resolve, your courage, your fear and heartache, your joys and sorrows. I am amazed at your ability to stand so tall and strong when you feel so weak and worn out. The reality of motherhood is that it is often brutal. It is a wonderfully, horrible, beautiful, frightening adventure that once embarked on, never comes to an end. All us warrior mothers, in whatever shape or form that might be, may we come together and reach out to each other in kindness and compassion. So many of us around the world are hurting badly. Let there be no comparisons of grief in this project, let there only be support for one another. We are all here to give our babies and children a legacy of love, so let us make them proud and do just that.
I CARRY YOUR HEART WITH ME
my heart) i am never without it (anywhere
i go you go, my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing, my darling)
no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is youhere is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars aparti carry your heart (i carry it in my heart)
